QuickBooks Online is the Future of Accounting Software

December 4, 2014|Mary Greiner

If you use the desktop version of QuickBooks, you may want to consider QuickBooks Online. The transition is straightforward, and the online version has features and advantages unavailable to users of the desktop version. And if you are starting a business, you might want to consider QuickBooks online for your accounting needs.

With QuickBooks Online, right from your mobile devices, you enter transactions directly into your accounting system as you pay bills, write invoices, and make other transactions. You no longer need to enter data when you get back to your computer because the work was done at the time of each transaction. You can take photos of documents (such as receipts) and attach them to those transactions in QuickBooks. You have less paper to track, and the online version learns your categorizations and reconciles transactions for you.

You never have to save your files to a USB drive or other storage device because QuickBooks Online is automatically backed up with the best security available today.

With QuickBooks Online, you can authorize others to access your data. So your accountant can make adjustments directly, resulting in better collaboration, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Here is a quick summary of some of the features of QuickBooks Online:

  • Access anytime or anywhere by computer, tablet, or smartphone
  • No software installation
  • No multiple versions of software
  • Only one version of data that everyone can access
  • Bank feeds allow for up-to-date bank account and credit card information
  • Set up invoices to automatically bill on a recurring schedule
  • Add-ons provide extra functionality
  • Includes support at no additional cost

Although Intuit continues to support the desktop version, consider taking a look at QuickBooks Online. Depending on your needs, QuickBooks Online may be a better choice for you.
